The Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association of South Africa
is the industry’s voice committed to maintaining the
high quality & safety of cosmetic products.

 

The Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association of South Africa (CTFA) was formed in 1994, when it became clear that no matter how strong individual companies were they needed a united force for stronger effect if they were to achieve their goals. CTFA guides members on the South African Self-regulatory Codes of Practice & Standards to ensure that the cosmetic industry flourishes.

 

Our industry is a responsible one, the safety of the consumer is our utmost priority.

 

What we do

CTFA works with industry, the South African Bureau of Standards, Department of Health & international bodies to set up responsible self-regulation for cosmetics in South Africa. This work culminates in the CTFA Cosmetic Compendium, which lays out all the guidelines, Codes of Practice & Standards pertaining to the self-regulation of cosmetics. The CTFA Cosmetic Compendium 3rd Edition is available from our offices.

 To provide technical expertise for members, government & other key stakeholders.

 To grow the South African cosmetic industry; promote export growth for the economy & provide protection for local manufacturers

 To maximise the opportunities for companies to innovate & provide consumers with the choice they demand.

 To provide a forum for members to network, collaborate & work together for the benefit of the industry.

 To provide ongoing communication to members of association work that is relevant to their business & the cosmetic industry in general.

Be visible on an international level, ensuring that South Africa is a global player involved in & aware of international regulations & legislation.

 

CTFA guides members on the Self-regulatory Codes of Practice & Standards to ensure that the South African cosmetic industry flourishes.

The cosmetic, toiletry & fragrance industry is an innovative one, & coupled with a rapidly moving self-regulatory environment it is essential that you are kept abreast of the latest changes & developments. It is also important, that you the member, are part of the decision making process that shapes the self-regulation & representations that are made from time to time on behalf of the industry,

 

Categories of Membership:

 Full Members – Manufacturers, Distributors, Contract Packers, Importers & Exporters of finished products.
 
Associate Members – Suppliers of ingredients, raw materials, packaging to the cosmetic industry.  
 Companies/associations affiliated to the cosmetic industry NOT involved in the manufacturing or distribution of cosmetic products.
 Retail Members – Retail Outlets with their own manufactured brand

How do I become a member?

Simply contact us & we will set up a first time free consultation with you at our Randpark Ridge Offices to explain the basis of self-regulation & get to know your particular business. Should there be a perceived benefit for both parties, we would then encourage you to become a member & assist you to comply with all the regulations as laid out in the CTFA Cosmetic Compendium 3rd Edition.
