Milestones achieved:
 

2009  

Acquisition in principle of CTFA Exports.

2008 September – Concession received for Cosmetics containing Sodium Hyaluronate/Hyaluronic acid.

2006 December  – Labelling of the 26 Allergens becomes mandatory. 

2007 The third edition of the CTFA Cosmetic Compendium was published. 

2006   June - International SPF Test Method signed and agreed to by South Africa, Japan, Europe & USA.

2004  February  - Ingredient labelling of cosmetic products became mandatory. 

2003  CTFA joined the International ISO Cosmetics Committee.

2003  Updates were issued to be included in the second edition of the CTFA Compendium. 

2002   October  - International Sunscreen Conference held at Sun City - The Second Edition of the Sunscreen Standard 1557:2002 was launched.

2001  The second edition of the CTFA Cosmetic Compendium was published.

2000 CTFA SA became a member of Colipa.

1998 June  - The first edition of the CTFA Cosmetic Compendium was published. 

1998  March- Ad Valorem reduced by another 5%

1997  October the CTFA eventually received approval from the MCC by way of resolution 172.08.06. The resolution accepted the EU definition of a cosmetic. 

1997  March- Ad Valorem excise tax was reduced from 37.5% to 15%. 

1994 March  - the cosmetics industry held an historic meeting where there was unanimous agreement to form a trade association specifically for this industry.
