The Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association of South Africa (CTFA) was formed in 1994 to allow representation of the cosmetic industry by a single, focused body. The association represents and promotes the interests of its member companies, liaises with government departments with regard to regulations and standards, and encourages responsible advertising by being an authoritative voice for the industry in South Africa

Full Members – Manufacturers, Contract Packers and Distributors of finished products.
Associate Members – Suppliers of ingredients, raw materials, packaging. (Associate Members are companies/associations affiliated to the Cosmetics industry that are NOT involved in the manufacturing or distribution of Cosmetic products.)
Retail Members – Retail Outlets with their own manufactured brand
Rates – (Quoted on request, due to annual inflation increases) Subscription Fees are based on company’s cosmetic, toiletry & fragrance sales only, at net invoiced price. Please note that subscriptions are based on TURNOVER and not PROFIT. Turnover must be authorised by the CEO / Owner and Company Auditor.

Certificates of Free Sale |

CTFA issues Certificates of Free Sale to members. These certificates are required by governments of certain countries that need assurance that products exported from South Africa may be freely marketed within the Republic of South Africa in accordance with the South African Regulations. * That they are manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice procedures for cosmetics acceptable to the South African authorities and do not contain any raw materials not permitted in South Africa. * They fully comply with the requirements of the South African CTFA Cosmetic Compendium.

Q. What are Certificates of Free Sale? Who can apply for them? A. These certificates are required by governments of certain countries that need assurance that products exported from South Africa may be freely marketed within the Republic of South Africa in accordance with the South African Regulations. They are only issued for CTFA Members.
Q. I would like to make lipstick, blush, etc. Can CTFA provide information on getting started in the personal care products industry? A. CTFA is a member service organisation and cannot provide technical assistance to non-member start-ups. |
